Introduction: Wealth, Inequality and Redistribution in Capitalist Societies

This special issue addresses the question of why high levels wealth inequality in many countries are not met with greater public discontent and demand for redistribution. The introduction contextualizes this focus by providing an overview on social science literature explaining patterns drivers capitalist societies post-war era. contributions enhance understanding remains largely unchallenged following ways: (a) through shedding light perceptions different groups asking how they perceive wealthy; (b) non-wealthy seldom oppose inequality; (c) reconstructing political economic elites conceive wealth-related policies, such as taxes. Future avenues research, especially regarding legitimation elaboration a relational perspective, outlined.
